Top 10 Best Bowling figures in ODI Cricket
One of the biggest thing for which India can be delighted will be Stuart Binny’s brilliant performance with the ball against Bangladesh on a track which rattle India for just mere 105. He broke the 21-year-old Anil Kumble’s record of recording best figures by an Indian in an ODI match.
India in search of defending 105, started well with two quick wickets. But the target was too less Bangladesh slowly moved on. They were 44/2 needing another 62 to win the game. But in an emphatic way Stuart Binny, pulled of the things as he picked up a 6-fer conceding just 4 runs in less than 5 overs. Due to his brilliance, India bundled out Bangladesh for 58 winning the game by 47 runs. Binny’s spell collapse last 8 wickets of Bangladesh for just 14 runs.
This performance from Binny powered him into the Top-10 best bowling figures in an ODI innings. He is positioned at No.9 and Kumble’s 6 for 12 against West Indies in 1993 is at No.10, where he collapsed opposition from 101/5 to 123 all out.
However, the best figures is on the name of Chaminda Vass with 8 for 19 against Zimbabwe rattling opposition for just 38 runs in year 2001 which might take enough time to break, as he holds the record for most highest wickets in a ODI innings too. The next mere contender is Shahid Afridi who almost came on to break that but ended with 7 for 12 against West Indies in 2013.
The third best is on the name of Glenn McGrath whose performance came in ICC 2003 WC against Namibia where his figures of 7 for 15 bashed the minnow for just 45. The next in the order comes of Andy Bichel, another Australian and another brilliance in 2003 WC. His 7 for 20 against England helped Australia restrict the opposition after a lightening start down to a below average total.
The next in the list are on the names of Asian geniuses. Muralitharan takes the 5th spot with magical 7 for 30 against India in Sharjah which gave them a comfortable win. Pakistan’s legendary pacer Waqar Younis takes up the 6th position with figures of 7 for 36 against England who took first 7 wickets of the innings drowning the opposition at 58/7.
Another Pakistan bowler featured in the list was Aaqib Javed, who rattled India with his 7-fer which included a hat trick. His 7 for 37 collapsed the Indian chase in the Wills Trophy Finals. W Davis is only the eight bowler to take 7 or more wickets was and has the 8th best bowling figures in ODIs. He is the only bowler in this list whose performance came from a 60-over ODI. His 7 for 51 resulted to be a match winning as his performance produced a big win for England over Australia.
