Mustafizur Rahman picked a up five wicket haul against India at Mirpur in the ongoing ODI series and became the second Bangladeshi to pick a 5-wicket haul on ODI debut. India got a great start chasing Bangladesh’s 307. But Mustafizur got the breakthrough by getting big wicket of Rohit Sharma by deceiving him with a slower ball. Not much time before he got wicket of Rahane in same way. Later when Raina looked dangerous, once again his slow delivery made the trick. Soon on the next ball he got Ashwin for duck and ended India’s hopes by picking his fifth wicket after dismissing Jadeja as well.

South Africa debuted a new pacer Kagiso Rabada against Bangladesh in the 1st ODI of the series, bowling first. The pacer was right on the money from the start of his spell, which was going to be a 8 overs spell as it was a 40 overs per side match. Rabada first bowled Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal for a duck, to start his striking spree. Indian needed 178 in 47 overs but Donald made it difficult for the hosts as he dismissed Shastri, Manjrekar and Sidhu leaving India at 20 for loss of 3 wickets. But Sachin and Amre rescued with a 56 run stand scoring 62 and 55 respectively. But Donald returned to send the both batsmen back to the pavilion but failed to see his side winning the game.</p>
<h4><strong>6. Taskin Ahmed (Bangladesh) – 5 for 28:</strong></h4>

<p>Taskin Ahmed became one of the two Bangladeshi players who picked up 5 wickets on ODI debut when he faced India at Mirpur in 2014. After a long rain break, Taskin rattled Indian batting. He picked up wickets of Uthappa, Rayudu in consecutive overs and soon got Pujara in same way. Towards the end he picked up wickets of Binny and Mishra as he finished with best figures on ODI debut by a Bangladeshi player. 4 out of the 5 dismissals made were LBW showed his dominance over the Indian batting.</p>
<h4><strong>5. Austin Codrington (Canada) – 5 for 27:</strong></h4>
<p>Canada’s Austin Codrington became the first player from a Non Test playing nation to pick a five wicket haul on debut in ODIs. It came in 2003 World Cup against Bangladesh at Durban which was Canada’s first ever ODI game since 1979. Defending a total of 181, Austin picked up wicket of Hannan Sarkar during his first over and innings’ 11th.</p>
<p>Later Bangladesh were situated at 106 in 21 overs for loss of 5 wickets were looking towards a victory before Codrington started his outburst. He picked up wicket of Alok Kapali in 22nd over and later got Mortaza and Baisya in spare of 3 balls. He finished the Bangladesh’s innings at 120 as he removed Rafique and finished with a five-for.</p>
<h4><strong>4. Shaul Karnain (Sri Lanka) – 5 for 26:</strong></h4>
<p>Right hand medium pacer from Sri Lanka, Shaul Karnain recorded best figures for his side on debut in ODIs when they faced New Zealand at Moratuwa in 1984. New Zealand needed 158 to win in 40 overs in a rain reduced game. Karnain, who opened the bowling made the target look impossible as he picked up a five wicket haul by dismissing Edgar, Howarth, Crains, and the Crowe brothers as the visiting team got crumbled to 76 for 7 and eventually got bowled out for 116 to lose the game by 41 runs.</p>
<h4><strong>3. Tony Dodemaide (Australia) – 5 for 21:</strong></h4>
<p>Best figures on debut in ODIs for Australia were recorded by Tony Dodemaide against Sri Lanka in 1988 at Perth. After Australia scored 249 in 50 overs, Dodemaide gave the home side three early wickets as he seen the set back of Gurusinha, de Silva and Ranatunga. In his final spell, he returned to stop the tail wagging from Guy de Alwis and Graeme Labrooy who scored 44 and 33 respectively sharing a stand of 50, as Dodemaide finished with a five wicket haul on debut.</p>
<h4><strong>2. Fidel Edwards (West Indies) – 6 for 22:</strong></h4>

<p>The West Indian pacer, Fidel Edwards recorded the best bowling figures in ODI on debut when he faced Zimbabwe at Harare in 2003. Zimbabwe asked West Indies to bat first and the visiting team scored 250 in 45 overs. Due to rain, Zimbabwe’s target got reduced to 223 in 32 overs and Edwards came out with a brilliant spell.</p>
<p>All started with dismissing Rogers on the first ball Edwards bowled, as he bagged 5 wickets before even completing 4 overs. He picked up wickets of Sibanda, Wishart, Vermeulen, Matsikenyeri and picked up wicket of Taibu in last over of the innings becoming the first and only player to pick a 6-wicket haul on debut.</p>

<p>South Africa debuted a new pacer Kagiso Rabada against Bangladesh in the 1st ODI of the series, bowling first. The pacer was right on the money from the start of his spell, which was going to be a 8 overs spell as it was a 40 overs per side match. Rabada first bowled Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal for a duck, to start his striking spree. He then got rid of Litton Das and Mahmudullah on the next two balls to complete a hat-trick on debut.<br>
The match which started on a wonderful note for the pacer, kept getting better as he also grabbed a fifer in his maiden game for South Africa. By the end of his spell, the figures read: 8-3-16-6. One of the finest bowling performances we have seen a debutant delivering in ODI cricket</p>
