Anil Kumble can easily be rated as one of the best bowlers to have played cricket for India across all formats of the game. He started off his career as a medium pace bowler, who later on switched to leg spinner. Despite not being a convention leggie, he is known to cause problems to world’s most feared batsmen. Kumble emulated Jim Laker’s record finishing with perfect figure of 10-74 from 26.3 overs as India routed Pakistan by 212 runs. He was never a big turner of the ball, but extracted bounce from the wicket with his height and supporting high arm action. Kumble knew his weaknesses more than the opponents and that served him the best, never going out of bonds to try something experimental. He for the most part of his career kept things simply and simply picked wickets, one of his biggest assets could also be the pace at which he bowled his leg spin. Anil Kumble is number 1 ranked bowler in our top 10 bowlers with most wickets in the fourth innings of a test match.
