He was ably supported by Tim Paine who scored 125 off just 127 balls. But his record went in vain, when Queensland hauled the score with the help of centuries from Usman Khwaja (166) and Chris Hartley (142) in 47 overs. Rohit Sharma took the world record from Virender Sehwag when he hit an astonishing 264 runs against Sri Lanka in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. India batted first after winning the toss and scored 404-5 in 50 overs. But the match was about the unbelievable innings of 264 runs by Rohit Sharma. He played 173 balls and hit a world record 33 fours and 9 sixes. Rohit Sharma had not played in the 4 matches preceding this one due to an injury. But he returned and returned in style. What came after was not expected by Surrey as Glamorgan went after their bowling with nothing to lose. Their Captain Robert Croft (119), Daniel Hemp (102) and Stuart Thomas (71 off 41 balls) took the fight to the opposition. Surrey managed to hold Glamorgan to 429 runs and won the match by just 9 runs. This is widely regarded as the most exciting List A match until now. Alistair Brown also became the first man to score two double centuries in List A format. He had previously scored 203* against Hampshire in 1997.
