8. Brendon McCullum (New Zealand) – 302:
Brendon McCullum became the first New Zealander to score a Test triple ton as his side drew the 2nd Test with India to win the series 1-0. McCullum shared a Test-record 6th-wicket stand of 352 with wicket keeper BJ Watling (124) as the hosts declared on 680-8 in Wellington.
The skipper saved New Zealand from a certain defeat as the hosts were struggling at 94-5 at one stage. The captain’s 647-minute knock ended when he fell for 302 from 559 balls, courtesy a beauty by Zaheer Khan. Brendon’s 302 was instrumental in holding out to a draw and clinching a historic series win.
