Zimbabwe’s greatest batsmen made his debut against Sri Lanka in the 1992 World Cup at New Plymouth in New Zealand. Opening the innings the elegant left-hander carried his bat scoring a composed 115 off 152 balls. The knock enabled his team to post 312/4 however it wasn’t sufficient enough as the Lankans won this thrilling match by 3 wickets with 4 balls remaining. Nevertheless, his innings gave a glimpse of his immense ability. The former wicket-keeper batsman played 213 ODIs and made 6786 runs at an average of 35.34. He made 4 tons and 55 half centuries scoring runs in all conditions. He remains his country’s highest run scorer in Tests and ODIs. Post retirement he had a highly successful coaching stint with England.
