Top 10 Highest individual scores registered by Englishmen in ODIs
England opener Alex Hales wrote his name in the record books with his wonderful 122 balls 171 runs knock against Pakistan in the 3rd ODI at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Hales looked in a no non-sense mood today pummeling the bowlers with no mercy at all.
He was at utmost ease and took full advantage of Pakistan’s pitiable bowling attack and poor fielding. Coming out to open the innings, he batted till the 37th over before departing. He did the maximum damage possible from his bat.
After losing his opening partner, an equally dangerous Jason Roy in the 6th over, Hales teamed up with Joe Root to punish the Pakistan bowlers and forged a 248 run stand. On the way to this wonderful stand, hales also completed his 4th ODI century and his first 150 plus score.

At 168, he also surpassed the long-standing 23-year-old record for the highest individual score by an England batsman in ODIs. He breached the record in style with a boundary.
The previous record was held by Robin Smith when he hit an unbeaten 167 against Australia at Birmingham in the year 1993. Hales might have topped the charts but it is former England skipper and current ECB Director Andrew Strauss who dominates the list with three entries into it. Other than that, only Jason Roy (162) and Ian Bell (141) are the only two non-retired players in the list.
