9. Mahela Jayawardene & Thilan Samaraweera – 437 v Pakistan:
In the first Test at Karachi in 2009, Sri Lankan pair of Jayawardene and Samaraweera created the world record partnership for the 4th wicket. After Sangakkara departed and the scorecard read 177/3, the duo joined hands to muster 437 runs for the 4th wicket. They broke the previous best 4th wicket partnership, which was 411 runs by England’s Peter May and Colin Cowdrey against the West Indies in 1957. While Samaraweera was cleaned up by Kaneria on 231 runs, Jayawardene remained unbeaten on 240 runs as Sri Lanka declared at 644/7. This was the same match where Younis Khan scored a triple century.
