4. Bill Ponsford & Don Bradman – 451 v England:

The match dates back to 18 August 1934 when Australia toured England for the Ashes. In the Ashes that year, Sir Donald Bradman had already scored 2 triple hundreds in the first and the fourth Test; with scores of 334 and 304 respectively. With such form, he joined hands with opener Ponsford when Australia was 21/1. The pair put on 451 runs for the 2nd wicket. Bradman looked set for his third triple ton but was dismissed for 244 by Bowes. Ponsford was unlucky to be dismissed hit wicket of a delivery by Allen on 266 after having batted so well. Australia won the match by a margin of 562 runs.
