Most Wickets in IPL | Highest Wicket Taker in IPL History
Only three overseas pacers are present in this list.
Batsmen are ruling the T20 format ever since it has been introduced. They have always targeted bowlers to hit them out of the park, no matter how efficient they are in the game. Bowlers are expected to come up with a lot of variations in their attack in order to survive in the shortest format. It helps them to take wickets and build pressure on the opposition batting line-up.
IPL, being the toughest league of T20 format, has witnessed some tremendous bowlers who have been consistent in each season. Consistency in bowling could be determined by the total wickets and the economy of the bowler.
So far in the IPL history, Lasith Malinga has taken the most number of wickets. The Sri Lankan pacer has played for Mumbai Indians since 2010.
He has taken 170 wickets in 122 matches till now at an amazing economy of 7.14. Malinga is followed by Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla with 160 and 156 wickets respectively.
Amit Mishra has represented various franchises in IPL and currently plays for Delhi Capitals. The leg-spinner is the all-time leading wicket-taker among the spinners in IPL history. India’s swinging sensation from Uttar Pradesh Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also rising up the ranks gradually. He is at 7th position in the record list of most wicket-taker in IPL, having 136 wickets in 121 matches so far. Both the players have bowled various match-winning spells for their respective franchises.
