Top 10 players with greatest multiples of their base price in the IPL auction history
Varun Chakravarthy was the most expensive uncapped in the auction this time around.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is a huge opportunity for the unknown players to get huge bids. Most of the times, one or two uncapped players manage to bag a huge amount in the event and this time it was Varun Chakravarthy from Tamil Nadu. He came into the auction with the base price of Rs 20 lakhs and generated a lot of interest among five teams before the Kings XI Punjab ended up picking him for a massive amount of Rs 8.4 Crore.
The final price which the mystery spinner raked in was 42 times compared to his base price. This is the second highest number in terms of the multiples of the base price in the IPL auction history. Murugan Ashwin is at the top of this list as he was snapped up by the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) for an amount 45 times of his base price in 2016.
The RPS had paid him Rs 4.5 crore after an intense bidding war from a reserve price of Rs 10 lakhs. Varun equalled Deepak Hooda in this aspect as the latter was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 4.2 crore and is still playing for them.

What about IPL 2019 Auction?
As far as the IPL 2019 Auction is concerned, Varun Chakravarthy was the clear winner while Mumbai’s Shivam Dube followed him. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) fought gamely to grab his services and the former team won the battle. Dube was signed up by the Virat Kohli-led franchise for Rs 5 crores which is 25 times his base price.
The 17-year-old Prabhsimran Singh, Akshdeep Nath and Mohit Sharma are next on the charts who kept their base price in lakhs and then managed to rake in Crores from the teams.
