The former Kenyan wicket-keeper and one of the most prominent faces of Kenyan Cricket, Kennedy Otieno struck a brilliant 144 off 146 balls against Bangladesh at Nairobi in 1997 to take Kenya’s total to 347/3 in 50 overs. He put on 225 runs with D Chudasama for the first wicket, which is a record for associate nations, and hit 12 boundaries and a six in his innings. Bangladesh in response were bowled out for 197 giving Kenya a thumping win by 150 runs. Otieno’s score of 144 remained to be the top score among the players of non-Test playing nations for over a decade.
