Joe Root has established himself as England’s most reliable batsman across all the three format. This World T20 proved to be a memorable one for him as he played a crucial role in taking England to the finals. Root started the tournament quite well with scores of 48 and 83 against West Indies and South Africa. But, the next couple of matches were lukewarm for him. He did not get much opportunity in the middle in the semis. In the grand finale against the West Indians, Root showed his class with a fighting half century to rescue England to a decent total batting first.
