Top 5 overseas players to watch out in the IPL auction
The IPL auction on February 18 is expected to be one heck of a party.
The IPL auction of 2021 is not far away, with only 10 days left. Most of the teams must be almost certain with their buying strategy. Each team has retained and released a different number of players and must be having the exact number of Indian and foreign players to buy.
Many big players were released by their respective franchises and will be available for being bought by new franchises. A total of 1097 players have registered for the 2021 auction (814 Indians and 283 overseas).
The auction is on 18th February and will start at 3 pm. The auction register incorporates 207 capped, 863 uncapped, and 27 associate players. Although 1097 players have registered for the auction, only 61 slots are available in total for all the franchises to be filled.
Here we bring 5 foreign players who could be the biggest buys in the IPL auction:
1) Glenn Maxwell
The Big Show has been of one the biggest names in the IPL ever since he was first picked by MI as the most expensive buy of that season. While he could not impress much during his debut season, he had an amazing season in 2014 playing for the KXIP. After that, he has not been doing really well.
Despite that, he is picked in the auction every year at a very high price, because he is an impact player. His sheer match-winning ability is not easy to find in many players. He has played 82 IPL matches now and is thus quite experienced.
He can finish off the innings very well if the middle order fails and he can even bat up the order. Apart from his batting, he is a gun fielder and can also provide a couple of overs as an extra bowler on Indian pitches.
