One of the finest IPL matches played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata with 70,000 in attendance, witnessed 21 runs scored off the last over. In the latter half of the 2011 season, Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squared off against each other. Batting first, KKR scored 175, with the contribution of 59 from Jacques Kallis, and 30+ contributions each from Manoj Tiwary and Yusuf Pathan.

Although MI sustained an early dismissal of T. Suman in the second over, spinner Harbhajan Singh displayed his batting skills after being promoted to the No.3 position. His 57-run stand with Sachin Tendulkar provided the momentum, until the 8th over, when he was dismissed for 30 off 29, and the team at 70/2 in the 9th over.

Then in the next couple of overs, the team lost the wickets of their key batters Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. All-rounders Kieron Pollard (18 off 22) and James Franklin (45* off 23) were involved in a 41-run partnership. After the dismissal of Pollard, the team was in a precarious situation. However, Rayudu made sure the team keeps believing by hitting a six on his second ball of the innings. With 21 needed off six in the last over, Franklin hit four consecutive fours off Balaji and gave a single to Rayudu, who hit the last ball for a maximum and handed a thrilling victory for MI.
