Top 5 West Indians who fired in IPL and failed for West Indies: In the Indian Premier League (IPL), the West Indian players have always formed the core of entertainment. Apart from that, in this particular edition of IPL, we have seen a number of West Indians who proved out to be the trump cards for their respective franchise. But it has been a strange fact that the level of consistency and destruction we see from the West Indies players in the Indian T20 League simply flicker’s away when they play for their national side. Also, the West Indies Cricket Board did not consider some of the players for the squad off late while they are a priceless part of their respective IPL teams at the moment. He was axed from the West Indies test squad. But he has been a pivotal batsman for RCB in this season and played a number of brilliant innings. In this season, he has scored 357 runs in 8 matches with an average of 51.00. Also, he possesses a destructive strike rate of 160.08. In his last match for Bangalore, he became the fastest player to reach to 3000 runs in IPL which reflects his level of consistency in this format. But somewhere down the line, it is to be admitted that he hasn’t fired much for his national squad against what he has done in IPL. 2. Dwayne Bravo: Dwayne Bravo csk. Dwayne Bravo has been performing superbly with the ball for CSK in this IPL and has been in the run for the purple cap. Also, his electrifying reflexive fielding has added to the strength of his team to a considerable extent. Bravo picked up 17 wickets so far in this IPL in 11 matches with an economy rate of 7.52. He is second to Ashish Nehra in the race for the purple cap. It was exposed that West Indies missed the all-rounder of his class badly during the World Cup which contributed much to their failure. 3. Simmons was also one of the players who was excluded from the national side. So far in this IPL, he has played 8 matches and scored a total of 277 runs with a strike rate of 119.39. Simmons has scored 3 half centuries this season. Apart from batting, he has been splendid in his fielding too and saved dozens of runs for his team. 5. Dwayne Smith: Dwayne Smith CSK. Smith has succeeded in providing CSK with some blistering starts and has come true to the team’s expectations. Smith has scored a total of 301 runs this season in 11 matches and has contributed a lot to Chennai’s success. But when it comes to performances, Smith has failed considerably for West Indies. In fact, his international average lies below 20 and thus he no longer finds himself as a part of the national setup.
