2. Graeme Smith (South Africa) – 9,265 runs:

Fondly referred to as Biff, Smith is regarded as the greatest Test skipper of all time. He took the reins of the struggling South African’s when he was only 22 years old. The way he helped the struggling Proteas side in rebuilding from the shackles of match-fixing, indeed makes him a great skipper. He also had a monumental track record at home and away Tests. But mind you he was equally apt with the bat as well and set the tone of the match with his classical repertoire of strokes. In 117 Tests he compiled 9,265 runs at an average of 48.25 with 27 centuries.
