Gary Gilmour just played 2 games in the World cup of 1975, but he made them count. Gilmour was brought in the team to utilize the swinging conditions, he shared the new ball with Dennis Lillee and he bowled his 12 overs unchanged. He got 6-14 in his 12 overs with 6 maiden overs. The English had no answer to his swing and most of his wickets were either bowled or LBW.

He then came in to bat with Australia 39/6 chasing 94 runs. He scored 28 runs off 28 balls with 5 fours and hung in there with Doug Walters to take Australia home and into the final. He took 5/48 in his 12 overs, but ended up on the losing team. He is the only player to take 5 wicket hauls in his first and last World cup games.
