Jamaican born Austin Codrington made his international debut for Canada in the 2003 World cup match against Bangladesh. He made immediate impact in helping Canada beat Bangladesh by 60 runs.

Canada batted first and scored 180 runs in 49.1 overs. Codrington removed the dangerous Hannan Sarkar for 25 and then came back in the death overs to pick up wickets of Alok Kapali and the bowlers to decimate the Bangladeshi chase. He became the first Canadian to take 5 wickets in ODI on debut. So far he is the only bowler to take 5 wickets on both ODI and World cup debuts.
