Australia is known for producing express bowlers who later went on to become all-time best bowlers in cricket. Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson are prime examples of this. In the past few years, Australia has struggled to justify their usual standards, but they still have some of the world-class bowlers in their ranks.

In the recently concluded series between Pakistan and Australia, the trio of Josh Hazelwood, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc dismantled the Men in Green batting line up with their lethal pace and accuracy. Now, the former Aussie pacer Brett Lee has come out hailing their performances and has given his prediction over their future.

Earlier, the trio of Glenn Mcgrath, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie dominated world cricket and now the new fast bowling unit is in the making that might fill the boots left by their former cricketing greats. The formidable trio of Starc, Hazelwood and Cummins were at their best against Pakistan batsmen, who were struggling to save their wickets against the trio’s wrath.

Brett Lee opines on the trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood

Brett Lee, the former Australian pacer feels that the trio of Hazelwood, Starc and Cummins holds the potential to surpass any era and make their name in the history books as one of the most prolific trios. He also added that the bowlers usually hunt in packs. However, only two bowlers that come in mind are Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson, who used to set a plan to dismiss the batsmen.

He also went on to explain that there were four world-class West Indian bowlers as well. However, Australia has three bowlers, who are doing consistently well. And according to him, they will surely leave their mark in the history of cricket as one of the best.

“These three will potentially go down as a trio that can surpass any era. When you talk about fast bowlers they hunt in a pack, but it’s generally only two bowlers that you mention. Lillee (Dennis Lillee) and Thommo (Jeff Thomson). You think about the great West Indian bowlers, there were about four of them but normally there’s two that work together. On this occasion, we’ve got three, and we’ve got three amazing bowlers that are all doing a great job. They will go down in the history books,” Brett Lee said as quoted by Foxsports.com.au
