Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took a hilarious dig at Delhi Capitals’ head coach Ricky Ponting following Mitchell Marsh’s bizarre dismissal against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday (May 1). Coming to bat at number three, the Aussie all-rounder went all guns blazing and played some delightful shots all over the park. Unfortunately for DC, however, his stay at the crease was cut short due to an umpiring howler.
It was the first ball of the eighth over and Marsh was adjudged out off Krishnappa Gowtham’s bowling. The umpire was convinced that the Aussie batter had edged the ball to wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock, who took a fine catch. However, the Ultra-Edge showed that the ball made no contact with Marsh’s bat. Interestingly, the right-handed batter didn’t opt for a review and walked back after scoring 37 off 20 balls.
Wasim Jaffer left netizens in splits once again
Marsh’s error in judgment left the fans stunned and his ouster also proved to be a turning point in the game. Jaffer also reacted to the incident and that too in his trademark style. Alongside Marsh, he also took a dig at Ponting and all Aussie cricketers, who are known to follow their win-at-any-cost policy. Jaffer apparently shared a meme from Bollywood blockbuster Munna Bhai M.B.B.S that left the fans in splits.

Meanwhile, DC, who were chasing 196 to win, eventually lost the game by six runs as LSG bowlers kept their calm in the end overs. Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan was brilliant in particular as he gave away just 16 runs in his quota of four overs and took four wickets in the process. As far as DC are concerned, besides Marsh, skipper Rishabh Pant played a quickfire knock of 44 runs which eventually went in vain.
Earlier in the match, LSG posted 195/3 in their allotted 20 overs with skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda slamming half-centuries. As this was LSG’s seventh win in 10 games, they have their one foot in the IPL 2022 playoffs. On the contrary, DC are reeling with four wins in nine games.
