TV anchor needs to apologize to people of Pakistan, not to me anymore: Shoaib Akhtar
I could have fought with the anchor and said a lot of things to him, reckoned Shoaib Akhtar.
The ongoing spat between PTV anchor Nauman Niaz and former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar just doesn’t seem to end and has taken a new turn in the latest turn of events. The anchor apologized to Akhtar after asking him to leave his show midway which led Akhtar to resign from the channel.
Now, the former speedster has turned down the apologies by the TV anchor and has asked him to apologize to the people of Pakistan instead. Though Nauman Niaz put forward his apology, Akhtar added that he should have done that then and there only. As per the former pacer, he has closed that chapter at that moment only.
“I asked for an apology that evening, not now. I did not get it then so I left. Now he no longer needs to apologize to me, he needs to do so to the institution of PTV for the brand getting hurt on national TV. He has to apologize to the people of Pakistan, not to me anymore. When I left the seat, I closed that chapter,” said Akhtar while speaking to GEO Super News.

Akhtar also stated that he could have a lot of things at that moment but he chose a higher path. In the same light, Akhtar was even slapped with a 100 million defamation notice after the controversy. He added that his lawyer will take this case forward now. He tweeted that he is ready to fight a legal battle.
“I could have fought with him and said a lot of things to him. Look at my strength. I could have done a lot of things. But I did not because I have chosen a higher path. This was completely against my nature. People who know me, also know this is not my nature. But I did this going against my nature,” he added.
The root of controversy was Akhtar and the TV show host not aligning with each other during a conversation. The host questioned some other thing while the pacer kept speaking on other aspects.
