Twitterati react to the new Chennai Super Kings jersey
CSK is set to come back to the IPL after a two-year suspension and the fans cannot wait to see the Men in Yellow back on the ground.
Chennai Super Kings was banned from participating in the last couple of seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but that hasn’t changed a lot of things. Their fan base is intact and the franchise managed to retain the core of their squad in the 2018 auction.
MS Dhoni the Thalla of Chennai is back leading the team, his deputy Suresh Raina is there as well and so is Ravindra Jadeja. Two of their most loved overseas recruits Dwayne Bravo and Faf du Plessis were bought back by the team in the auction and thus the setup still continues to have more or less the same look.
As the season is less than a month from kick-off CSK unveiled their new jersey. The official Twitter handle shared an image with Narayan Jagadishan, Dhruv Shorey, Kedar Jadhav, Murali Vijay, Ambati Rayudu and Karn Sharma sitting on the couch wearing the yellow jersey.
While most fans were simply thrilled with the fact that their favourite team is back a few weren’t quite impressed after checking out the new uniform of their team. To an extent, there was a mixed reaction as some did actually approve of the changes and are already eager to be rooting for the Men in Yellow.
Here are some of the tweets and reactions:
A lot of them actually liked it:
Though the critics think Chennai have picked a club of veterans the team management has a mix of experienced players and the trusted performers. Vijay, a local boy is back among the Kings and is extremely excited ahead of the upcoming season.
CSK also signed up Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh as a like for like replacement of Ravichandran Ashwin who was bought by Kings XI Punjab and has been named their captain for the 11th edition. They also have another seasoned spinner in Karn Sharma, who has been in top form in domestic cricket of late. All in all, a lot will be expected when MS Dhoni & Co. walk out on the field after a gap of two years.
