Twitter can't keep calm as Rashid Khan calls Harsha Bhogle 'bro'
Rashid defended 9 off the final over and helped Afghanistan whitewash Bangladesh in the T20I series.
Rashid Khan is scaling greater heights with every passing day as his mysterious leg-spin is becoming almost impossible for the batsmen to face. He was once again instrumental in Afghanistan’s victory in the third and final T20 International as they inflicted a whitewash over Bangladesh. He was praised by many yet again for his stunning performance with even Harsha Bhogle also in the awe of the leggie. However, Rashid called him ‘bro’ in his thank you message to the veteran commentator after which he was trolled by the fans hilariously.
Rashid had a tough job on his hands to defend 9 runs in the final over after Mushfiqur Rahim had managed to eke out 21 runs in the 19th over. The odds were heavily in the favour of the visitors as they had wickets in hand and two set batsmen were playing in the middle. But the youngster scalped Rahim off the very first delivery to make things interesting and didn’t concede a boundary to bring the equation down to 4 runs off the last ball.
Ariful Haque smashed the final delivery down the ground towards long-on and the ball was sailing over the boundary. But Shafiqullah Shafiq’s excellent fielding skills came to the fore who timed his jump and managed to save the boundary. Eventually, Bangladesh fell agonisingly short of the target by 1 run and Rashid was the reason for their loss.
Bhogle praises Rashid
Harsha Bhogle was thrilled after watching Rashid Khan defend only 9 runs in the final over and was happy for Afghanistan. He was also convinced that the 19-year-old was one of the best bowlers in the shortest format and is constantly improving after every match. “Meanwhile @rashidkhan_19 has defended 9 off the last over to give Afghanistan a clean sweep over Bangladesh. Amazing result for Afghanistan and further proof of Rashid’s phenomenal development,” Bhogle tweeted.
Rashid was ecstatic as his performance was hailed by one of the finest analysts of the game who is also a veteran and the most popular commentator. “Thank you bro,” he responded to Bhogle’s tweet only to invite trolls. The fact that he called the 56-year-old ‘Bro’ didn’t go down well with many fans as they advised him to respect the senior commentator.
It goes without saying that Rashid is a humble person and must be respecting Harsha Bhogle. The response he gave to the tweet was just instinctive and Twitterati pounced on it.
