Twitter goes in a frenzy as DK replaces Yuvi
After Virat Kohli surprised one and all by not making any change, leaving the shores of Trinidad and Tobago, the Indian captain was in a mood to make wholesale changes into the One-Day side in the Fourth ODI against the West Indies in Antigua. As it turned out, Rishabh Pant still could not break into the lineup as three new players were included for the fourth match of the series.
India took an unassailable lead in the 5-match series in West Indies by defeating the home side in the second and third fixture. The first match was washed out due to rains. Yuvraj Singh place in the first three matches after he continued his rusty form he sustained in the Champions Trophy. However, he looked in decent in the last match against the Windies were he scored an important 39, stitching a crucial partnership with Rahane.
Virat Kohli wanted to experiment in today’s match as he gave opportunities to Mohammad Shami (last played in the World Cup of 2015 in ODIs), Dinesh Kartik and Ravindra Jadeja, in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuvraj Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin respectively. By the looks of it, all we can say is, if Pant had to receive his ODI cap, this was the perfect occasion for him to do so.
If reports had to be believed, Indian batting sensation Rishabh Pant, who has been knocking at the selector’s doors for a while now, was expected to earn his ODI cap in the third one-dayer against West Indies in Antigua. Virat Kohli has already hinted about a change in the lineup after they left the shores of Trinidad and Tobago.
It can now be said that the talented left-hander may have to wait for a few more games patiently for his breaking into the Indian side. Till then, he has to warm the benches and keep supplying drinks to the player in the field as the 12th man.
