Dale Steyn, the veteran South African fast bowler, is way past his prime at the age of 35 years. Yet his hunger to succeed at the highest level hasn’t died down by any stretch of the imagination. The same can be comprehended by the intense celebrations after picking up wickets, showing how much the game of cricket means to him. He is also set to play the World Cup in England and Wales.

In the last couple of years, the fast and furious seamer has had to encounter numerous spells of injuries where he remained away from his favourite sport. Recently, he played for the national team in the three-match T20I series where he finished with four wickets, bowling at crunch moments of the games. He recently plied his trade for the Titans in the domestic One Day Cup in South Africa.

Dale Steyn for RCB?

Recently, the Phalaborwa-born pacer posted a picture on his Instagram where he can be seen flaunting an Indian visa. It has raised speculations about him playing in the cash-rich and prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL). And moreover, fans believe that he might be joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Virat Kohli, who are straining at the moment.

RCB is the only team, who are yet to win a single match in the tournament, playing six matches. Their batters have done reasonably, but it’s their bowling that has come under the pump. A very few of them could put a lid on the scoring and have leaked runs, especially at the death, where the likes of Andre Russell have gone hammer and tongs to terrorize their bowlers.

The very experienced Steyn has previously played for the Challengers and in fact, in his maiden IPL season, he played for them itself. Twitter feels that Steyn’s inclusion will come as a massive boost for the franchise if not completely solve their issues. Steyn was also in the auction this time around but remained unsold after registering himself at a base price of INR 1.5 crore.
