Twitter is shocked as Yuvraj Singh remains unsold in the auction
He was listed at a base price of INR 1 crore.
Yuvraj Singh has arguably been one of the best cricketers India have ever produced. The all-round cricketer was one of the major reasons why India won the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa and the 2011 World Cup in India. He is someone, who doesn’t mind taking on the bowlers and can play the big shots with sheer ease courtesy of his stupendous wrist power.
However, after recovering from cancer, he couldn’t quite weave his magic with his prowess. Albeit, he came up with stupendous performances here and there, he couldn’t show enough consistency to stay put in his position in the team. He last played international cricket during India’s tour of West Indies last year in July. Yuvraj has had a rough patch in his cricketing career.
Yuvraj remains unsold
As far as his IPL career is concerned, he was picked by Kings XI Punjab, captained by Ravichandran Ashwin, at his base price. But he flattered to deceive in the limited opportunities he got. He was in and out of the team as he couldn’t score runs and moreover, he didn’t score a high strike-rate as well. Moreover, the veteran didn’t get much chance with the leather in hand.
He was subsequently released by the franchise ahead of next edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL). He was listed at a base price of INR 1 crore and before the auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hinted at picking the 37-year-old via a tweet. In the previous season, CSK resorted to picking a lot of senior players and the tactic didn’t backfire by any stretch of the imagination.
However, the proceedings didn’t go in his favour by any stretch of the imagination. The auctioneer waited for someone to bid, but unfortunately, Yuvraj didn’t find any bidders and he remained unsold at his base price. Subsequently, the supporters on Twitter was highly dissatisfied and they expressed their agony over the unfortunate matter.
