Twitter Reaction: Twitter trolls Wahab Riaz for bowling at Steve Smith and not on the stumps
Steven Smith is perhaps one of the most innovative batsmen of this modern era. His brilliant yet unorthodox footwork and purple patch of form has made him the best batsmen in every format currently. Australia faced Pakistan in a must win match for both the sides in the World T20 2016. Australia won the toss and batted first on a nice Mohali pitch at the PCA Stadium. The pitch had something in it for the bowlers, but was good enough for the ball to come onto the bat for the batting side. The openers provided Australia with a decent start, with Finch coming back into the team.
Australia got the boost towards the end of the innings thanks to Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Shane Watson. Smith remained not out at 61 off 43 balls, while Maxwell contributed 30 off 18 balls, but the day belonged to Shane Watson, who is playing his last match in international cricket, blasted 44 off 21 balls with 3 sixes.
While Mohammad Sami went for 53 runs in his 4 overs and Mohammad Amir going for 39 runs in his 4 overs, Wahab Riaz was again impressive with his bowling as he picked up the wickets of Usman Khawaja and David Warner with two peach of deliveries that destroyed the stumps.
Steven Smith used his feet beautifully against the spinners Afridi and Wasim, but the best bit came from him against a ball from Wahab Riaz. Smith stood well outside off stump may be on the 10th or 12th stump, leaving all of his wickets uncovered and Riaz instead of bowling a yorker at stumps, bowled wider outside the off stump and in Smith’s arc. The Australian skipper hit it for a four, the shot that he played will definitely be a part of the highlights everywhere.
Twitter didn’t appreciate Wahab Riaz’s decision to follow Smith and called him dumb among many names. Here are the twitter reactions:
