Twitter Reaction: Virat Kohli runs Rohit Sharma out yet again
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been involved in some fantastic partnerships over the years but their run outs are remembered more.
India and Australia are fighting it out in the 4th ODI though it is a dead rubber the game maintains the excitement since both the teams have varied but specific purpose. Australia put up a strong batting performance and posted a 334-run total for India to chase. The hosts started the chase extremely well with Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma putting up a fantastic opening stand. Rahane looked in great touch and so did Rohit. Both of them brought up their fifties as they put up a century run stand for two games in a row.
India were looking in control just when Rahane perished for a score of 53 and that brought an end to their 106-run stand. Virat Kohli came in and looked in good touch. The Indian captain and Sharma were hitting the right tones when something happened which is not new to the Indian fans. Though both of them are individually good runners between the wickets but understanding which is the most important factor certainly doesn’t exist between the two.
Rohit, Virat and run outs, a love triangle
The duo have been involved in some fantastic partnerships over the years but their run outs are more remembered events. There have been more mishaps between the two than partnerships. Today was a similar case when Kohli punched a short delivery towards backward point. Smith’s exquisite fielding did not help the cause as Kohli after running a few meters changed directions leaving his partner stranded. Rohit did not see the ball and trusted Kohli with his call but the Indian captain pulled back and returned to his crease.
A pretty similar incident happened four years ago at this very ground when Kohli and Rohit were left chatting at one end and it was Kohli who lost his wicket then. They have been involved in a runout for the 5th time in ODIs out of which Kohli was out 3 times and Rohit got out twice. In T20Is it has happened twice with the pair getting out once each.
This mishap has sent Twitter into a meltdown as India lost a set batter. Many made fun of this while others were angry at the Indian captain who himself got out pretty soon.
