Australia had put up a huge 583/4 decl. in the first innings as middle order-men Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh joined together to build the highest 4th wicket partnership in Test history stitching 449 runs. Marsh got out for a well made 182 while Voges was unbeaten on 269 when Australia declared their first innings after lunch on day 2. West Indies were not expected to beat the Aussies and at least not after being beaten for 583 runs in the first innings, but not many would have thought they would be bowled out twice even before the tea break could be taken on the 3rd day.

The Windies team managed only 223 in their first innings despite a fighting hundred by top order batsman Darren Bravo (108). If it was the Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon pair that shattered the visitors in the first innings sharing 7 wickets, the comeback man James Pattinson and Hazlewood hunted 8 wickets in the following innings to wrap West Indies up for just 148 following on.

Though the scorecard shows a dismal, disappointing, unmentionable, disgraceful image of the West Indian batting unit, opener Kraigg Braithwaite swam against the stream and scored 94 runs from the team total of 148 in their second knock. If it was not for him, they might have submitted to a more humiliating loss.

Steve Smith & Co. were top class, they not only batted brilliantly but also bowled superbly well to bowl their opposition out twice in three days on a surface which looked a certain batting paradise.
