AUS vs SA: Mitchell Starc earns massive respect on Twitter as he bowls through blood and pain on Day 3
The 32-year-old dislocated the tip of his bowling arm's middle finger while attempting a catch on the first innings of the Test match.
Veteran Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc was set to miss the Sydney Test against South Africa due to a finger injury that he picked on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The 32-year-old dislocated the tip of his bowling arm's middle finger while attempting a catch on the first innings of the match. However, the plan was reversed, as his fellow all-rounder Cameron Green was ruled out from bowling due to a broken bone in his finger.
Despite a lot of pain, Starc was seen bowling at MCG on day three and that was heavily appreciated by cricket fans all over the globe. The veteran was even bleeding but continued to put pressure on the Proteas batters during the fag end of the day. In the second innings, the left-arm quick bowled four overs, giving away 13 runs.
Fans on the internet showed massive support and respect for Starc while even drawing similarities with former Australia opner Shane Watson’s effort in the 2019 finals of the Indian Premier League. Some appreciated him for his dedication and commitment to the national team while others appreciated the Aussie spirit in him.
