India took an unassailable 3-1 lead against England in the five-game series, winning the fourth Test at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. India began Day 4 at 40/0, with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease. The duo added 42 runs in the first eight overs of Day 4 before Joe Root sent the youngster back to the pavilion.
Rohit then reached his half-century, while leading India's chase of 192 but England dismissed him and Rajat Patidar in quick succession. Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja made it through the rest of the session, although the latter was removed by Shoaib Bashir shortly after lunch. Sarfaraz Khan, on the other hand, lost his wicket in the very next ball, bringing in Dhruv Jurel into the middle alongside Gill. The duo settled everything for India, putting together an unbeaten 72-run stand off 136 deliveries, with Gill scoring a half-century as India outplayed England by five wickets. The win allowed India to seal the series, extending their record to 17 Test series victories at home.
Opting to bat first, England posted 353 runs, with Root compiling an unbeaten 122 runs. Meanwhile, for India, Jadeja and Akash Deep claimed four and three wickets, respectively. Despite India's terrible start, young opener Jaiswal carried on with his outstanding form, scoring 73 off 117 deliveries.
When things seemed tough for India, Jurel stepped up, delivering a gritty 90-run knock, and shared a 76-run eighth-wicket partnership to help the hosts reach 307 runs. Later, Ravichandran Ashwin (5/51) and Kuldeep (4/22) made things easier for the hosts as they combined to take nine wickets, limiting the tourists to 145 runs. Zak Crawley top-scored for his side, scoring 60 from just 91 deliveries.

In the 13th over, facing James Anderson's delivery, Rohit Sharma showcased his prowess by walking out to him and playing a daring flick over the fielder. The shot was risky, but with true bounce, the ball soared into the stand for a maximum, which was the first six of India's innings.
