KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants registered their second win in a low-scoring contest, beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets. The two sides squared off in Match 10 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday, April 7.

Notably, after the conclusion of the international assignment, regular SRH skipper Aiden Markram joined the XI. Upon winning the toss, Markram decided to put up a total on the flat deck in Lucknow. However, things went south right from the third over when the Orange outfit lost their first wicket in the form of Mayank Agarwal for eight runs.

This was followed by back-to-back blows from Krunal Pandya, who sent Anmolpreet Singh (31 runs) and skipper Markram packing for mere 50 runs. With pressure mounting, Rahul Tripathi scored a few boundaries to get 34 runs to his name, however, failed to convert it into a big score.

SRH eventually concluded their innings with a total of 121 runs in their stipulated 20 overs of the contest. Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya got three wickets under his belt whereas veteran spinner Amit Mishra racked up two wickets in the innings.

LSG earn second win despite few jolts

In response, openers KL Rahul and in-form Kyle Mayers got off to a terrific start as they got boundaries with ease. However, after getting 35 runs on the board, Mayers headed back to the dugout as he was dismissed by Impact Player Fazalhaq Farooqi.

Rahul and Krunal notched up 55 runs between them which further helped the side extend domination against the visitors. Krunal got a 23-ball 34 with four boundaries and a maximum before getting dismissed by speedster Umran Malik. Spinner Adil Rashid struck twin blows as he got the vital scalps of Rahul and Romario Shepherd in consecutive deliveries. Despite the few jolts, LSG managed to get to the finish line, winning the contest by five wickets.
