Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) clashed against each other in Match 61 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Sunday. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bat first against the Yellow Army while planning to set a competitive target for them.

The visitors started off well but lost the initial wickets which put them in a rough spot against the CSK squad. The top order of Rajasthan Royals fell very early but Riyan Parag's 47 off 31 balls. At the end of the first innings, Rajasthan Royals scored 141/5.

However, it was not a difficult target to chase if compared to all the scores put up on board in the first innings of this season of the Indian Premier League. It might be a bit challenging for CSK batters on a slow pitch like Chepauk. Yet again, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad led his team from the front by scoring 42* runs off 41 balls. Chennai Super Kings beat the second-on-points table Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets.

1. Simarjeet Singh's spell against RR

Simarjeet Singh performed like a star in the match against Rajasthan Royals when the Yellow Army needed to win this match. He took 3 wickets by giving off just 26 runs in his four overs with an economy of 6.50. He dismissed Royals' major batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler. This helped the team to restrict RR to a low score.

2. Ravindra Jadeja's dismissal

The Chennai Super Kings star Ravindra Jadeja was given out for obstructing the field during the CSK vs MI league stage match at Chepauk. He hit the ball at deep third for a single and ran for a double. RR skipper-wicketkeeper throws the ball on the other side to hit the wickets but rather it hits Jadeja's elbow. This was then transferred to the third umpire and was later on given out. This incident has occurred for the third time in IPL history.

3. Riyan Parag shines for RR

Riyan Parag stood up for the team against CSK in the league stage match. He has been performing really well in IPL 2024. He scored 47 runs off 31 balls and helped Rajasthan Royals put up a score of 141 against the home team. His innings helped RR build a score as the top order collapsed too early and neither player be it Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler or Sanju Samson could score against the Chennai Super Kings.
