IPL 2024: RR vs LSG, Match 4 Highlights: Unmissable video recap, turning points, match analysis, stats, and more
Rajasthan Royals won by 20 runs against Lucknow Super Giants in the fourth match of IPL 2024.
On Sunday, March 24, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a margin of 20 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) opener. At their home ground, the Men in Pink chose to bat first after winning the toss. To secure the victory, the Royals then went on to post a commanding 193/4 before holding Lucknow to 174.
Let's take a look at highlights from the RR vs LSG match of IPl 2024:
1. Rajasthan Royals got off to a brisk start
Jos Buttler (11 off 9) and Yashasvi Jasiwal (24 off 12) got RR off to a fast start. Nevertheless, LSG contributed two wickets during the powerplay as Buttler was dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq and Jaiswal was dismissed by Mohsin Khan. But RR was able to tie the game because of a combination of Samson (82* off 52) and Riyan Parag (43 off 29). The pair gave RR a firm foundation by scoring the most runs together in the game—93 runs off 59 balls. Buttler was later on dismissed for just 11 by Naveen-ul-Haq.
2. Skipper Sanju Samson leads from the front with an unbeaten 82
The Royals appeared to be able to score more than 200 runs when Samson and Parag were on the pitch. But LSG did control a segment of the match when they eliminated Parag, who was dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in rapid succession, and Shimron Hetmyer. After Samson was joined by Dhruv Jurel (20* off 12), Rajasthan reached 193/4 in their 20 overs thanks to their partnership of 43* off 22. Sanju Samson scored 82 runs off 52 balls.
3. Lucknow Super Giants' top order crumbled too soon; KL Rahul scored a fifty
Quinton de Kock tried a few boundaries to get the LSG innings off to a great start. However, Trent Boult was quick to understand this and used it to trap the LSG opener. Now that RR is moving forward, de Kock is making his way back to the pavilion. Strong batsman Devdutt Padikkal is making his way back to the pavilion as pacer Trent Boult, who secured his second wicket of the day, gets off to a fantastic start in Jaipur. While wickets are falling at one end, captain KL Rahul is labouring from the other.
The RR pacers dominated the first few overs, and the top batting order of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) crumbled too soon. Walking back to the pavilion after being sacked by Nandre Burger is Ayush Badoni. In place of Yash Thakur, Deepak Hooda is on the crease as an IMPACT PLAYER.
Skipper KL Rahul scored a fifty against Rajasthan Royals. Even though LSG crawled back in the game, RR's Trent Boult with his bowling forced Lucknow Super Giants to not score more than 173. Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten on 64 but failed to take his team over the line.
