'Is he PCB Chairman for real? - Netizens in disbelief on Najam Sethi's comparison tweet
Najam Sethi on his appointment as the PCB Chairman had aggressively celebrated Ramiz Raja's ouster on Twitter.
After Pakistan’s humiliating 0-3 drubbing at the hands of England in the home Test series, the country’s cricket witnessed a major transformation as Ramiz Raja was replaced by Najam Sethi as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman.
Meanwhile, the previous selection committee has also been sacked and the board has appointed veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi as the interim chief selector. The other members of the new committee include Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum.
However, just days after his appointment as the PCB chief, Sethi took to his Twitter to post an infographic comparing his rein with that of his predecessors Ehsan Mani and Ramiz Raja. It was a matter of time before Sethi’s tweet went viral after which he was severely criticized.
Here are some of the reactions:
When Ramiz Raja and Najam Sethi were at loggerheads regarding the post of PCB chief
Raja and Sethi seemingly do not get along well with each other. He had aggressively celebrated the former’s ouster as PCB on his official Twitter handle where he mentioned that “The famine in cricket will come to an end.”
Nonetheless, Raja reacted strongly by saying that Sethi is an outsider who has non-cricketing motives and is here for staying in the "limelight".
"This Najam Sethi is tweeting 2:15am at night that Ramiz Raja has been sacked, star congratulating me. I have played Test cricket, this is my field, and it hurts to see these people from outside cricket trying to act like a Messiah. I know that their motives are non-cricketing. These people are here for the limelight," Raja said on his YouTube channel.
