Kohli is the stand-in skipper against PBKS as du Plessis is playing as an impact player due to an injury.
The exciting action continued in the Indian Premier League 2023 on Thursday, April 20, as Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore went head-to-head against each other at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Before the game even began, the RCB fans were in for a surprise as Virat Kohli was seen coming out for the toss for the action-packed encounter.
The star batter informed at the toss since Faf du Plessis can’t take the field, he will be playing as an Impact Player, and hence Kohli was captaining the side for the match. It is for the first time since stepping down as RCB captain in 2021 that Kohli will be seen leading the side.

Under his leadership, the Bangalore-base franchise finished as runner-ups in the 2016 edition of the tournament courtesy of a record-breaking season with the bat for Kohli.
The star batter amassed 973 runs across 16 innings at an average of 81.08 and with four hundreds to his name, all of which are unbroken records in a single season of the T20 extravaganza.
The 34-year-old is being seen in imperious form in the ongoing season as well, having scored 220 runs in five innings at an average of 55 and a strike rate of 147.65 with three fifties to his name.
