India will be looking to stage a comeback in the must-win second T20I against the reigning T20 world champions Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Friday, September 23. With the series on the line, the Men in Blue have no other choice but to come out on top.

Nonetheless, the weather gods had other plans as the rain played a spoilsport in Vidarbha. Even though the pitch inspection took place twice - at 7PM and then at 8 PM IST - it was to no avail as the wet outfield meant that it was completely unfavorable for the contest to take place.

Fans wait impatiently for the second IND vs AUS match to begin

Rain was predicted to play a spoilsport in this contest and in fact, the training session that was scheduled for Thursday, September 22 i.e. a night before the game also had to be called off due to showers.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official Twitter handle has gone on to confirm that the next inspection is scheduled to take place at 8:45 PM IST. Now, it remains to be seen whether the game is happening or will there be more delay due to the wet outfield as the passionate fans and viewers of cricket wait patiently for the on-field action even if it happens to be a truncated contest.

Focus will be on the key players skipper Rohit Sharma and batting megastar Virat Kohli as they look to regain their mojo on the 22 yards heading into next month's T20 World Cup 2022 down under. At the same time, India would also be looking to address their death bowling woes having failed to defend targets thrice this month.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar failed for a third straight time bowling the penultimate over while comeback man Harshal Patel also could not rediscover his rhythm with the ball in hand and was taken to the cleaners especially by Matthew Wade who clobbered him for two sixes in the 18th over.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the delay:
