India’s latest T20 batting sensation Rinku Singh continued his Midas touch at the international level as he scored his first half-century during the second T20I against South Africa on Tuesday, December 12 at St George's Park, Gqeberha. The southpaw walked in to bat with India on 55/3 after 5.5 overs and joined captain Suryakumar Yadav at the crease.

He announced his arrival at the crease in style by driving Gerald Coetzee straight down the ground to get the first boundary of his innings in the sixth over. Rinku further smacked Marco Jansen for consecutive boundaries and helped India cross the 100-run mark after 11 overs.

The 26-year-old continued the onslaught against the Proteas as he took on Andile Phehlukwayo in the 13th over and clobbered him for three boundaries on the leg side. Rinku got involved in a 70-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav (70 off 48) for the fourth wicket, who also became the joint-third fastest batter to score 2000 runs in T20Is along with Virat Kohli (56 innings).

Following Suryakumar’s dismissal, the southpaw didn’t let the run flow stop and took on Lizaad Williams in the 15th over. He once again found three boundaries putting his wide array of strokes on display.

Rinku Singh completed fifty off 30 balls

After missing out on scoring his first half-century in the recent fourth T20I against Australia in Raipur, Rinku finally reached the fifty-run mark off just 30 balls with a single against Aiden Markram in the 16th over. Having completed his fifty, the Aligarh-born batter unleashed his beast mode on South Africa in the death overs whacking Aiden Markram for back-to-back maximums in the 19th over.

The second six even broke the window of the press box at the stadium as Rinku continued to smack the Proteas for fun. He remained unbeaten on 68* (39) smashing nine fours and two sixes in his innings as rain interrupted play in the first innings with India on 180/7 after 19.3 overs. Meanwhile, X was abuzz with reactions on another Rinku Singh masterclass. Here are some of the posts:
