Pakistan beat Netherlands by 81 runs to start their World Cup campaign with a win.
Pakistan got their World Cup campaign off to a terrific start as they beat the Netherlands by 81 runs in the second game of the tournament on Friday, October 06 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After being put in to bat first, the Babar Azam-led side got all out for 286 in 49 overs with Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan top scoring with their 68-run knocks.
In reply, the Netherlands started their chase well but lost wickets in clusters during the middle overs. As a result, they were bundled out for 205 in 41 overs with Bas de Leede top-scoring with his innings of 67 (68). The seam all-rounder was also the pick of the bowlers for his side in the first innings as he registered figures of 4/62 in nine overs.
Apart from him, Vikramjit Singh also scored a crucial half-century (52 off 67) for his side and got them off to a good start. Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with figures of 3/43 in nine overs while Hasan Ali (2/33, 7 overs) also picked up two wickets.

Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel rescue Pakistan's innings
Earlier in the day, Pakistan got off to a miserable start as they were left reeling at 38/3 after 9.1 overs. Fakhar Zaman (12 off 15), Imam ul Haq (15 off 19) and Babar Azam (5 off 18) all returned to the pavilion inside the first ten overs leaving their side in all sorts of trouble.
However, Mohammad Rizwan (68 off 75) and Saud Shakeel (68 off 52) stabilised their innings with their 120-run stand off 114 balls. Mohammad Nawaz (39 off 43) and Shadab Khan (32 off 34) also made valuable contributions to their team’s total. Useful cameos from Shaheen Afridi (13* off 12) and Haris Rauf (16 off 14) took Pakistan to 286 all out in 49 overs.
