'Out of this world stuff from SKY'- Twitter in awe of Suryakumar Yadav's breathtaking assault against Zimbabwe
Suryakumar Yadav compiled the four fastest half-centuries for India in T20 World Cups against Zimbabwe.
The final Super 12 match between India and Zimbabwe at the MCG saw a masterclass in batting from the no.1 T20I batter in the world Suryakumar Yadav. The Indian batting ace was at his nonchalant best during his scintillating innings of 61* runs off just 25 deliveries. His belligerent half-century helped India to a daunting total of 186 runs in their 20 overs.
The Men in Blue batted first in the contest after Rohit Sharma called it right at the toss. But the Indian skipper failed to convert yet another start in this year's tournament, falling for just 15 runs in the fourth over of the match. But his opening partner KL Rahul took over from where he left off in the last game against Bangladesh and notched up a glittering half-century.
India were in a commanding position before Zimbabwe bowlers dismissed an in-form Virat Kohli and KL Rahul in the space of four deliveries to arrest India's momentum. Rishabh Pant, who was drafted into the squad also fell cheaply and that is when Suryakumar Yadav put his hands up for the team, something he has made a habit of since the turn of the year.
Suryakumar Yadav played shots only he could against the Zimbabwe bowling attack
The ace batter played some remarkable shots on his way to 1000 runs in T20Is in 2022, the first batter to reach the landmark this year. His sensational half-century came in just 23 deliveries, making it the fourth fastest half-century for India in T20 World Cups. The Indian star also holds the highest strike rate for a batter who have faced 100+ deliveries in an edition of the T20 World Cup.
Suryakumar's incredible knock powered India to a massive total of 186 runs, a total that looked unattainable after the quick dismissals of Kohli Rahul and Pant in the middle overs. The kind of shots he plays everytime he bats, reminds people of his inexplicable 360 degree abilities.
