Team India kicked off their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a bang as they defeated Bangladesh by 60 runs in their only warm-up game of the marquee event at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, in New York. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. Rishabh Pant's half-century, along with contributions from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, propelled the Men in Blue to 182/5. The Bengal Tiger's chase never got going as they lost wickets in regular intervals. Though Mahmudullah provided some hope, but it was too late as Rohit and Co. registered a convincing win.

Let us take a look at the highlights from the match:

1. Rishabh Pant made a solid comeback with his fifty

Coming back to the Indian camp after a gap of more than a year, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant made it feel like he had never left, scoring an unbeaten 53 off 32 balls. Pant came to the crease early after Sanju Samson's dismissal. The left-hander smashed four boundaries and four towering sixes in his innings.

2. Arshdeep Singh gives India two early breakthroughs

Lanky left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh gave India a brilliant start, picking the wicket of Soumya Sarkar in the very first over of Bangladesh's innings. The pacer used the surface well, extracting bounce and pace. In his very next over he even got rid of dangerous Litton Das with an inswinging delivery.

3. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya smashes 40 off 23

All-rounder Hardik Pandya had a great day on the field. He was looking at his usual best with the bat as he took on the Bangladesh bowlers smashing them all around the park. In his 23-ball stay, he smacked two boundaries and four huge sixes. The 30-year-old was great with the ball as well and he picked one wicket as well in the T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up fixture.
