As the injury plagued Indian side moved into the dead rubber against Bangladesh in Chattogram, the visitors made a few changes before the contest. While Kuldeep Yadav walked into the XI as the second spinner, Ishan Kishan shouldered the responsibility of an opener, and he just came out with flying colours. When the Men in Blue were already burdened with not being able to get perfect starts at the top in the last two games, Kishan changed the narrative in a spectacular manner.

While it was a heartbreak for Indian fans to lose Shikhar Dhawan early on yet again, Kishan held onto one end perfectly and kept playing all the required shots to get runs coming. It seemed like Kishan was only waiting for the opportunity to grab with both hands and when it came up, he made the full use of it to smash his maiden international ton. He smashed 14 fours and two sixes to reach the three-figure mark and is roaring on 102* off 86 (at the time of writing this report).

The 24-year-old was playing his 10th ODI and moved into the contest with pressure of handling Rohit Sharma’s position and of course to avoid the whitewash in the series. However, he absorbed the pressure well and put India in a better place where the following middle-order would be able to manage their shots freely. While Kishan remained firm on one end, he got the perfect partner in Virat Kohli who kept playing calmly to let the youngster play well.

Talking of the match so far, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl first. Riding on the confidence of having won the series already, the Bangla Tigers started off well by unsettling Shikhar Dhawan for just three runs. However, what followed up next was something that India would have been looking for long time now. Though it’s a dead rubber, it remains to be seen if Indian players will be able to bag the content to avoid a whitewash and gain some much needed confidence moving further into the Tests.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Ishan Kishan's ton
