Twitter Reactions: Boland, Starc shine as India wrapped for 185 on green top
Boland and Starc shared seven wickets between them as India lost the plot after opting to bat first.
Australia and India continued the action in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in the fifth and final Test of the series at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The clash began with India coming in to bat first after winning the toss on a green top in slightly damp conditions. The BGT 2024-25 has been a series to forget for team India and their fate did not change, at least on the first day of the New Year's Test.
The visitors opened their innings with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal coming out to bat after captain Rohit Sharma was dropped. The openers were sent packing quite early as Jaiswal scored just 10 while Rahul was sent back for four. Things went from bad to worse after Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli departed after getting starts.
After the top order’s failure, Rishabh Pant tried to stabilise the innings. However, he was also sent packing after adding 40. The star of previous game, Nitish Kumar Reddy bagged a golden duck while Washington Sundar was dismissed in a controversial manner after Australia got the on-field decision for caught behind changed through DRS

Ravindra Jadeja, who got a couple of lives through dropped catches, added 26 whereas skipper Jasprit Bumrah scored 22 off just 17 to stretch India's total to 185.
With the ball, Scott Boland was the highest wicket-taker with a brilliant four wickets to his name. He conceded merely 31 runs in 20 overs, bagging wickets of Jaiswal, Kohli, Pant and Reddy. Boland was well supported by Mitchell Starc (3/49) and skipper Pat Cummins (2/37). Nathan Lyon struck only once, dismissing Gill on the last ball before Lunch.
Australia nearly saw off the little they had to come and bat for before Bumrah struck on the last ball of the day to send back Usman Khawaja in a heated phase of play.
