Twitter Reactions: Ihsanullah and Rilee Rossouw shine in Multan Sultans' win over Quetta Gladiators
Ihsanullah took five wickets for 12 to bowl out Gladiators for just 110 runs while bowling first.
Multan Sultans beat Quetta Gladiators in the third match of the Pakistan Super League 2023 with a dominant nine-wicket win on Wednesday (February 15) at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Young pace sensation Ihsanullah took five wickets for 12 to bowl out Gladiators for just 110 runs while blowing first. Then the star South African batter Rilee Rossouw smashed 78* off 42 to guide Sultans to their first win of the season.
Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and elected to field first at the Multan Cricket Stadium after their heart-breaking one-run defeat against Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of the tournament. Rizwan's decision to bowl provided an instant success for Sultan.
Pacer Sameen Gul dismissed veteran New Zealand opener Martin Guptill at an individual score of just seven runs in the second over and then Gladiators never managed to gain any momentum throughout the game.
Young right-arm pacer Abbas Afridi removed Abdul Bangalzai to hand over Gladiators their second wicket in the fifth over. Ihsanullah took his first wicket of the match in the form of Gladiators' captain Sarfaraz Ahmed in the next over.
Ihsanullah dismissed Jason Roy and Iftikhar Ahmed on back-to-back deliveries in the eighth over. Roy top-scored for Gladiators with 27 off 18 while other batters struggled to find any rhythm against Ihsanullah's pace.
Ihsanullah took two more wickets as the Gladiators managed to score just 110 runs in 18.5 overs. Apart from Ihsanullah's T20 career-best five-wicket haul, Sameen Gul and Abbas Afridi also contributed with two wickets each for Sultans.
Sultans lost star opener Shan Masood for just three runs in the innings' second over. But that didn't cost them much as they chased the paltry target with ease. In-form Rizwan scored 28* off 34 while Rilee Rossouw fired from another end.
Rossouw smashed 78* off just 42 with the help of nine fours and three sixes and finished the game in style with two back-to-back sixes to Mohammad Nazwaz in the 14th over.
