The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma pulled off an incredible victory against Bangladesh in a dramatic encounter in Adelaide. The Men in Blue go top of the points table by virtue of a nail-biting win against their neighbours. The Indian bowlers kept their cool after Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took India to 184 runs in a rain affected match.

India were in the ascendency after posting a daunting total, but Bangladesh made a rollicking start to their chase as Litton Das played one of the innings of the tournament. The stylish batter took the attack to the Indian bowlers during the field restrictions and raced to his half-century in just 21 deliveries.

Litton was single-handedly decimating the opposing bowlers before the rain intervened in Adelaide. The lengthy rain delay meant that the Bangladesh innings was reduced to 16 overs with a revised target of 151. The break proved decisive for Rohit Sharma's men as a moment of magic from KL Rahul pulled the curtains on Litton's breathtaking innings of 60 off just 27 deliveries.

Bangladesh lost their way after the rain delay as the Indian bowlers changed the momentum of the game, and probably the outcome by dismissing four Bangladeshi batters for just nine runs in the space of just 11 deliveries as the pressure told on the batters.

It was the young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, who opened the floodgates for his side with a double wicket over. Hardik Pandya followed with another double-wicket over to dent Bangladesh's chances of a win. But the Men in Green put up a valiant fight, setting up a tense finale. However, the Indian bowlers kept their cool in a dramatic finish to secure a tremendous comeback victory.

Record-breaking Virat Kohli led the charge for India

Earlier in the match, the Men in Blue were invited to bat first after Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bowl first in front of a full house at the Adelaide Oval. The Men in Green drew first blood after dismissing the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma cheaply in the fourth over of the match. Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed bowled a superb opening spell and was unlucky to go wicketless in the match.

But after the conclusion of the youngster's bowling spell, India put their foot on the accelerator after a sedated start in the powerplay. KL Rahul was the aggressor initially, slaying the Bangladeshi bowlers on his way to a brisk half-century off just 32 deliveries. The Bangladeshi skipper removed the dangerous Rahul in the tenth over to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Their joy was short-lived, as Suryakumar Yadav, the No.1 batter in T20Is, walked into the middle and was looking in the mood to take the game away from the Bangla tigers. His 16-ball 30 provided the impetus to the Indian innings as Virat Kohli kept the scoreboard ticking from the other end. But the former Indian skipper went into overdrive after the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav.

Kohli notched up his third half-century of the tournament, becoming the leading run scorer in T20 World Cup history and tieing with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar for most half-centuries in World Cup matches across the two formats. Kohli was assisted by Ravichandran Ashwin's quickfire 13 off just 6 deliveries as India posted a more than competitive total of 184 runs on the board.
