Twitter Reactions: Kagiso Rabada bags INR 10.75 deal with Gujarat Titans for IPL 2025
RCB joined in with a bid of 8.25 crore and proceeded till MI kept their paddle down.
Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction began with the first list of players as Kagiso Rabada drew bids from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans from the start. The South Africa pacer, whose base price was INR 2 crore, caught the interest of Mumbai Indians midway as they bid him for INR 5.25 crore.
RCB left their bid as soon as MI entered the fray, but GT were adamant as they did not budge. RCB joined in with a bid of INR 8.25 crore and proceeded till MI kept their paddle down. But GT, who were interested from the inception had the last say as they procured the rights of the pacer for 10.5 crore. The auctioneer asked the Punjab Kings, Rabada’s former team, if they wish to use the RTM card.
PBKS, who are carrying the highest purse amount of 110.5 crore, refused to use the RTM and Rabada will be seen donning the GT jersey in IPL 2025. For the unversed, Rabada played 11 games for PBKS before he flew back home citing injury concerns. He picked just 11 wickets at an average of 33.82 and an economy rate of 8.86.
“The 28-year-old consulted a specialist on arrival in South Africa and is being closely monitored by the Cricket South Africa medical team. His preparation for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA is not expected to be affected,” Cricket South Africa had said in a statement.
