Pakistan and Bangladesh faced off in the second and final Test match of their series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on August 31. This clash came after the hosts suffered a heavy 10-wicket defeat in the opening Test at the same venue. Due to continuous rainfall, the opening day of the match was completely washed out. As a result, the originally scheduled five-day game has been reduced to four days of play.

The clash began with Najmul Hossain Shanto calling it correctly at the toss and electing to field first. Pakistan got off to a horrible start as opener Abdullah Shafique fell victim to an exceptional delivery from Taskeen Ahmed in the sixth bowl of the first over of the innings.

Saim Ayub and skipper Shan Masood took charge of putting the team back on track. Both the left-hand batters quickly started finding boundaries, and kept the scoreboard ticking, stitching a crucial 107-run partnership. Masood departed after scoring a well-crafted 69-ball 57, including two boundaries. Ayub also found himself walking back to the pavilion in no time. The southpaw smashed 58 runs, lacing his innings with four boundaries and two sixes.

Star batter Babar Azam who struggled in the first Test match, showed some promise scoring a 77-ball 31. Saud Shakeel who scored an exceptional century in the opening Test, departed after managing to add just 16 runs to the tally.

Mohammad Rizwan (29) who was trying to build a partnership with Salman Agha became Taskeen's third victim of the day. Meanwhile, Agha kept playing his strokes from the other side and managed to score a handy 54 runs. After Agha's dismissal, the visitors quickly wrapped up Pakistan's tail and bowled them out on 274 runs.

As for Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball picking a brilliant fifer. Ahmed finished with figures of 3/57 with Shakib Al Hasan and Nahid Rana picking a wicket each.

The tourists came out to bat for just two overs and finished with 10/0 with Shadman Islam (6*) and Zakir Hasan (0*). The pair will resume batting the following day, with their team still trailing by 264 runs.
