The Pakistan Super League served yet another classic in Karachi after the Karachi Kings nearly pulled off a spectacular chase against Peshawar Zalmi in a dramatic clash. Babar Azam's side prevailed in a nevry finish after posting a formidable total of 199 runs on the board despite some sloppy effort by his bowlers at the death.

Peshawar Zalmi's veteran pacer Wahab Riaz struck gold on his very second delivery of the match, dismissing the dangerous Sharjeel Khan for a golden duck. Australian wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade was next to depart after his brief cameo was halted by James Neesham during the second innings.

Qasim Akram and Haider Ali also departed in quick succession as Peshawar Zalmi tightened their grip on the match. That is when the experienced duo of Imad Wasim and Shoaib Malik got together at the crease. They used their experience to great effect, steading the ship for their side after a flurry of wickets.

Once they got their eye in, the batters, especially skipper Imad Wasim, took the attack to the bowlers. What seemed like a daunting target after a disastrous powerplay, felt achievable as long as the two batters remained at the crease. The Karachi skipper brought his half-century with a brilliant six off just 30 deliveries to keep his side in the hunt.

Even though the asking rate reached the 14 runs mark, Malik and Imad kept their eyes on the target, taking the match deep with a remarkable century stand. Wahab, who drew first blood in the second innings, afforded a second life to Malik after dropping a sitter in the 17th over. Salman Irshad's 18th over turned the match in Karachi King's favour as he conceded 18 runs in the over that included a no-ball. However, Babar's side got over the line in a tense finale by just two runs after a dramatic last over.

Earlier in the match, Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam led the charge for his team at the top of the order with a fluent 68 off 46 deliveries. However, it was the 28-year-old Englishman, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who stole the show with his rollicking innings.

He smashed 92 off just 50 deliveries and fell short of his century in the last over of the first innings. James Neesham also chipped in with a late cameo to take his side's total to a handsome 199 runs after the end of their 20 overs. Imad Wasim conceded 42 runs in his three overs, largely due to Cadmore's carnage in the middle overs.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Peshawar Zalmi's narrow escape:
