Twitter Reactions: Ravichandran Ashwin reunites with CSK, gets acquired for INR 9.75 crore
CSK remained determined right till the end after kicking off proceedings for the seasoned campaigner.
Ravichandran Ashwin will be making a heartwarming homecoming to his boyhood franchise, the Chennai Super Kings, after they secured their former stalwart for INR 9.75 crore. CSK started off the bidding process for the bowling all-rounder.
The race was initially joined by the Lucknow Super Giants. However, they dropped out at INR 3.40 crore. It was a familar tale when the Royal Challengers Bengaluru entered the tussle for Ashwin, competing with CSK who were still very much interested for Ashwin. RCB only persisted for a couple of bids before retreating.
Ashwin's franchise for the past three seasons, Rajasthan Royals, jumped right in, and tried offering CSK some defiance. However, CSK were not to be deterred as they held their ground to snap up the original Super King for INR 9.75 crore. Ashwin will be making his return to the Chepauk after a decade.
Age was clearly never a factor for the think tank. If anything, Ashwin has improved his T20 batting over the years, as was evident by his stunning display with the Dindigul Dragons during the previous edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Meanwhile, his bowling in the shortest format has only grown better over time.
